A Custom Wedding Dress at The White Dress by the Shore!
At The White Dress by the shore we love helping bride's find the perfect wedding dress. There are times when a bride has a vision of a gown that she just cannot find. Or, perhaps she loves the top of one gown and the bottom of the other. In those cases, we are able to create a custom wedding dress for The White Dress by the shore brides! We met Patty last year shortly after her engagement. Patty's wedding was taking place in her home country of Brazil. She had a vision of an elegant, glamorous gown that would make a statement for her special day. It was important to her that the gown have straps, a full skirt and she favored beaded lace. She had a photo as inspiration that she brought to her appointment. We tried on several gowns in the boutique, but she could not find the perfect gown that had ALL of the elements that she was dreaming of. So, we worked with designer Augusta Jones to make Patty's gown vision come to life!
The first step in the process was to identify the overall shape of the gown and the lace that she loved. We then sketched out the gown, took a series of measurements and sent them off to Augusta Jones. The designer then constructed Patty's gown out of muslin, which is a cotton fabric. When the muslin arrived, Patty came in for a fitting so that we could fit it to her and make adjustments to create the perfect the silhouette.
Our head seamstress Penny, adjusted the muslin according to Patty's specifications. In her case, we changed the shape of the armhole slightly. lengthened the straps and lowered the back neckline.
Several months later, Patty's gown arrived. It was in the fabric that she selected and had all of the design specifications that we had made. It was PERFECT! In her final fitting we adjusted the hem and created a bustle to the shoes that she was planning on wearing...and off to Brazil she went!
The final product was PERFECTION! Congrats Patty! We were so honored to work with you on such a special gown!
